Sarah Shourd is a writer, musician and international solidarity activist. She was captured by Iranian forces along an unmarked border between Iran and Iraq in July 2009 and was held in solitary confinement in violation of international law for 14 months. After being released, she spent the next year rallying support and advocating for the freedom of her then fiancé Shane Bauer and friend Josh Fattal, who were freed Sept. 2011.

“I wrote many songs in my head while I was held hostage in Iran. I sang loudly and defiantly so that the other prisoners would hear me. They would often sing back, giving me a sense of connection and solidarity that I needed to survive. After I was released I wrote this song, ‘It's Your Turn.’ Now I sing it for all the woman political prisoners at Evin Prison in Tehran who helped me and are still being held captive. I sing it to political prisoners being held in Iran, the U.S. and around the world. I sing it to Iran's movement for freedom, human rights and democracy and to movements for justice everywhere."

سارا شورد يک نويسنده، موسيقيدان و فعال اتحاد بين المللي است. او در سال ۲۰۰۹ در يک نقط مرزي بين عراق و ايران که فاقد هر گونه نشانه اي بود به وسيلهٔ نيروهاي انتظامي ايران دستگير شد و بر خلاف موازين بين المللي ۱۴ ماه در حبس انفرادي به سر برد. بعد از آزادي، او مدت يک سال براي آزادي نامزدش، شين بير و دوستش جاش فتال تلاش کرد و آنها در سال ۲۰۱۱ آزاد شدند. “زماني که من در ايران گروگان بودم ترانه هاي متعددي در ذهنم ساختم. با صداي بلند و با جسارت ميخواندم تا زندانيان ديگر صداي مرا بشنوند. اغلب اوقات آنها نيز در جواب به من ميخواندند که احساس همبستگي و يگانگي با آنها را که من براي بقا احتياج داشتم در من ايجاد ميکرد. بعد از اين که آزاد شدم ترانهٔ “نوبت توست” را ساختم و هم اکنون آن را براي زنان زنداني سياسي در زندان اوين که به من کمک کردند و هنوز محبوس هستند ميخوانم. من اين ترانه را براي زندانيان سياسي که در ايران، آمريکا و سراسر دنيا اسيرند ميخوانم. آن را براي جنبش آزدي، حقوق بشر و مردم سالاري و جنبش براي عدالت در سراسر دنيا ميخوانم.”‏
