Kiosk - Dasht e Sabz

from Azadi: Songs of Freedom for Iran by United for Iran

/

about

Kiosk was founded as an underground band in 2003 in Tehran, Iran, by Arash Sobhani. Like many other bands in Iran, they had to set up their studios in the underground basements of friends and families, fearing of the Islamic regime’s constant surveillance and strict censorship laws restricting most types of music. This song is dedicated to the green movement of Iran. For more information: www.kiosktheband.com

lyrics

The dinosaurs are gathered in a Jurassic-like coalition
Deep inside a crowded cave in a crammed-in condition
Busy dispensing oversight, approval and permission

Light and sunshine gives them an allergic reaction
Chronic heart-blindness and cerebral petrifaction
Side-effects of the Ice-age and glacial interaction

Voiding the true results of the nation’s plebiscite
Validating a total lie as competent and right

Protection of idiocy’s endless iteration
Tallying all the dreamed-up votes with great imagination
Without a single pertinent official’s approbation

Meting out compassion through the hardened baton’s might
Everyone saw your kinda justice alright

Still, at the end of this tunnel of dread and fright
And right behind this thick wall of solid granite
I can see so clearly, I can see a light
There can clearly be seen
A vast field of green
A vast field of green
A vast field of green

Jackals and hyenas this cave though guard and keep
Seeds of violence they sow and bails of hatred reap

Though these days the nation’s dress and uniform is plain
And though it’s but the blindfold, the handcuff and the chain

A small favor I ask of you, sir, if I may advise
Take my vote back; take it back from these guys

Still, at the end of this tunnel of dread and fright
I can see so clearly, I can see a light
And right behind this thick wall of solid granite
There can clearly be seen
A vast field of green
A vast field of green
A vast field of green

In the rule of plummeting value of the Rial
Human worth and Topolov planes perpetually fall
In Ghazvin and in Kerman and in fields over all

In the government of fear, jail and retribution
And the benevolence of guardians of the constitution

Still, at the end of this tunnel of dread and fright
I can see so clearly, I can see a light
And right behind this thick wall of solid granite
There can clearly be seen
A vast field of green
A vast field of green.....
